Gary Steven Boehm
January 3, 1955 - May 2, 2014
 

Gary Steven Boehm, age 59, of West Palm Beach, FL (formerly of McHenry), died peacefully on May 2, 2014, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach. He was born on January 3, 1955, to John and Marilyn (Carstens) Boehm, in Woodstock, IL. He graduated from McHenry High School in 1973 and began working as a sheet metal installer. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1984 and actively served for 16 years. He served four years in the US Army Reserve. He served both as Air Defense Artillery and Medical Administration Specialist. He was awarded five Army Commendation Medals, six Army Achievement Medals and five Good Conduct Medals. He served in Korea, Germany, Ft. Campbell, Ft. Hood and Redstone Arsenal. As a Reservist, he served at White Sands Proving Ground and Beaumont Army Medical Center. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). He also earned the rank of Star in the Boy Scouts of America.

 

Mr. Boehm was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, John; and his step-mother, Geraldine Doran-Boehm. 

 

He is survived by his five siblings; James, Robert, Terry, Kevin Doran and Kathleen Doran-Repke. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews. 

 

The military memorial service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home & Crematory, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry on June 5th from 4:00 PM to the time of service at 7:00 PM. Interment at McHenry County Memorial Park will be private. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be sent to Boy Scouts of America, Troop 131, c/o First United Methodist Church, McHenry IL 60050.

I was in puppy love with him in high school. He was so handsome with dreamy eyes! See you in Heaven you service man hero!
