Mark R. Swanson Funeral services for Mark R. Swanson, 49, a resident of Johnsburg for many years, formerly of Bensenville, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Road (one block west of Route 12, ½ block north of Grand Ave), Fox Lake (The Chapel on the Lake). Pastor Roger Schneider will officiate.

Born Feb. 7, 1955, in Bensenville, the son of Eric and Shirlee (nee Dourlain) Swanson, he died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery in McHenry.

Mr. Swanson was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry and was a mechanical engineer for the Carrier Corporation in Elk Grove Village.

He is survived by his wife, Nina T. (nee Shugrue) of Johnsburg, with whom he was united in marriage July 25, 1981, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in McHenry; his son, Eric E. Swanson, and daughter, Monique T. Swanson, both students at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb; his mother, Shirlee of Johnsburg; brothers, Karl (Rhonda) Swanson of Florida, Nils (Kelly) Swanson of Johnsburg and Lars (Diane) Swanson of Wisconsin; half brothers, Eric (Patty) Swanson of McCullom Lake, Kurt (Holly) Swanson of Lilly Lake, Allen Swanson of McHenry and Randell (Becky) True of California; his sister, Sharee Swanson of California; half sister, Shirlwyn (John) Hallberg of North Carolina; mother-in-law, Elaine Bruce) Hammerstone of Nevada; father-in-law, David Mehner of Spring Grove; sister-in-law, Toni (Joseph) Missbach of Wonder Lake; brother-in-law, David Jr. (Shelly) Mehner of Grayslake; his nieces and nephews; and other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
